Network Consultant - Boston, MA
We are currently seeking a Network Consultant to perform both onsite and remote technical support for G2 Technology Group customers in the Boston area

Position
The ideal candidate will have the skills to provide technical support to small business end users and business owners. Candidate must be familiar with supporting Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems, MAC OS X, and Linux is a plus.

This person must be driven, outgoing, and flexible and have excellent customer service skills. The ideal candidate is creative and an outside of the box thinker that has a passion for technology.

This person will work directly with senior technical staff members as well as the company President and will be required to interface with customers and prospects remotely and in person. You will need to take direction from others in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment and you will be expected to take the initiative to execute delegated tasks independently with limited supervision.

Responsibilities Include:

• Respond to telephone calls and e-mail requests for technical support
• Manage service desk, ensuring tickets are properly prioritized and addressed in a timely manner
• Ensure that open service tickets are escalated and addressed appropriately
• Communicate steps taken during troubleshooting and resolutions through clear non-technical communication, or by utilizing the appropriate level of technical references
• Demonstrate the correct level of urgency while resolving client incidents
• Travel to customer sites to perform support on a regular basis
• Monitor status of network health at various client sites
• Maintain documentation and auditing policies and procedures, user guides, system configuration management and diagramming (using VISIO)
• Occasionally attend trade shows and promotional events for G2
• Participate in rotating on-call responsibilities

Technical Qualifications

• Intermediate to Expert:
  • Windows XP, Vista, 7.
  • Mac OSX 10.4+
  • (Linux is a plus)
  • Microsoft Windows Servers 2000, 2003, 2008
  • Full Understanding of Office 2003/2007/2010 Applications
  • Microsoft Active Directory
  • Microsoft Exchange
  • (Microsoft SQL a plus)
  • Blackberry Enterprise server
  • Printer, Workstation and Server hardware
  • Backups
• Basic to Intermediate:
  • Virtualization, VMWare
  • Citrix and Terminal Services
  • Cisco ASA Firewalls, Routers, Switches
  • TCP/IP Networking, DNS, DHCP
