Amazon Web Services just announced their newest offering: Amazon WorkMail. WorkMail is a managed email platform with calendar integration that is designed to work with your current PC and Mac Outlook – and mobile clients that work with Exchange ActiveSync, similar to Gmail and Exchange.
Amazon WorkMail offers all the features you expect from an email platform: calendars, sharing, tasks, contacts, distribution lists, folders (both public and private), out of office messaging and more. Plus there is a browser based version allowing you to access your email and calendar from anywhere.
Knowing that emails are consistently getting bigger with larger attachments, WorkMail initially includes 50 gigabytes of storage for messages and attachments, along with the ability to have messages be up to 30 megabytes (Gmail currently only supports up to 25 MB).
For security, WorkMail features several security protocols for your email platform including: location control by AWS region, S/MIME and SSL encryption, stored data encryption, automated message scanning and mobile device policies and actions for BYOD businesses.
In addition to this announcement, Amazon is renaming Amazon Zocalo to Amazon WorkDocs – which features integration with WorkMail.
